David Beckham and Prince Harry Meet Up For a Night of London Clubbing

David Beckham and his best friend Dave Gardner spent last night at what seems to be London's hottest spot, the Arts Club. Prince Harry was out as well to say hi to David, along with Princess Eugenie and the singer Katherine Jenkins. It was Harry and David's latest get-together. David visited with Harry when the latter went to LA for a weekend during his time in the US doing an Apache helicopter training course. Both good-looking British guys are looking forward to the Olympics, with David's hoping to play for Great Britain's soccer team. Harry recently expressed an interest in doing a PR-friendly race against champion runner Usain Bolt while touring Latin and South America to promote his grandmother Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee.

The evening of fun came as a break from work for David. He traveled to London earlier this week to launch David Beckham Bodywear for H&M, later celebrating the launch with his parents and his wife Victoria's mom and dad. David also spent an afternoon filming an ad for Adidas. Victoria, meanwhile, has her own new collections on the brain. She's gearing up for New York Fashion Week, where she'll actually have two presentations. In addition to her Victoria Beckham Collection, she's also showing Victoria by Victoria Beckham.

Katy Perry is cutting ties with Russell Brand in EVERY WAY.

The 27-year-old pop singer has unfollowed her soon-to-be ex-husband on Twitter. As of Friday afternoon (a slow news Friday afternoon) Perry no longer follows Brad.

She is still one of the 78 people Brand subscribes to however.

It's not surprising, given that Perry is only communicating with Brand, 36, via phone or email. "She's limiting those interactions," a source says of the couple.

"He's being so atrocious, she feels like she never really knew him."

Perry has been keeping Brand off her mind by focusing on her career: she performed in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Thursday, and she recently shot an Adidas ad.

"She doesn't want to look battered and have people for sorry for her," a source says. "She's very strong and confident and looking forward to the next chapter."

She's the most cheat-worthy star on the planet according to married guys, if she ever needs a little confidence boost. Or some amoral companionship.

A Social Network for Couples Only

A social network is targeting couples who want to spend their time online with just each other, as niche-based social media initiatives attract users and the advertisers who market to them.

VCNC, a South Korean company founded by five developers, has introduced its latest app, "Between," which provides a private place for customers to chat, share photo albums and store memories behind closed "doors."

Between targets mainly Asian users and works on a mobile platform rather than online like Facebook or Google+. It allows users to build a private archive by entering the phone number of their significant other into the app.

VCNC released Between in English, Chinese, Japanese and Korean in November, and within two weeks more than 45,000 users signed up. More than 62,000 users have downloaded the app.

While the customers appreciate the privacy, VCNC, like any other social networking company, likely hopes to earn money from them. The couples are likely a strong customer base to attract advertisers marketing products and services for couples, such as vacations, gift ideas and more.

Niche social networks are becoming popular as people who are concerned about privacy start to form their own groups away from the prying eyes of strangers. For example, RedRover is both a guide to kid-friendly activities and restaurants nearby and a parent-focused social network that banks on the idea that parents will only be comfortable doing this with friends with children of their own.

The Between app likely won't take on Facebook anytime soon, unless its users suddenly start pairing off in twos and heading into their private rooms. But Facebook has made forming social networks a prime target for many developers, likely encouraged by the social giant's advertising success.

Facebook, the world's largest seller of online display ads, is set to collect over $2 billion from ads this year. The social network's more than half a billion users that visit the site several times a day, provide a steady stream of clicks to big-name companies such as Coca-Cola, JP Morgan Chase and Adidas.

Between likely won't achieve that kind of success, but even if it can attract a tiny fraction of that kind of revenue, it will be wildly successful. The app is a free download, and as more couples discover the service, its developers may well discover the value in people who just want some private one-on-one time.

APP pulps trees from its own tiger sanctuary. How dumb is that?

Asia Pulp and Paper – the company doing so much to jeopardise the future of Indonesia's rainforests – has done some pretty stupid things in the past. But pulping the trees in its own tiger sanctuary is astonishingly dumb.

And yet that's exactly what APP has done. A case study in a new investigative report documents how APP’s Senepis Tiger Sanctuary is subject to aggressive deforestation by one of the company’s wood suppliers. This is the very same heavily-promoted sanctuary that APP shows to clients and media as an example of its conservation efforts in Indonesia.

The report, The Truth Behind APP’s Greenwash, which has been released by Indonesia-based NGO coalition Eyes of the Forest, presents detailed evidence that cuts through the heart of APP’s aggressive, multi-million dollar greenwashing machine. How on earth will APP's PR firm Cohn and Wolfe spin this one?

APP has already responded to this latest scandal by admitting that the shocking images taken by field researchers were from its supplier’s concession. Yet in its promotional materials APP claims that it only sources fibre from "degraded" areas or "wasteland" and that any rainforest fibre found in its products is simply "wood residues". We've always questioned what the term ‘wood residues’ actually means and the latest images (such as the one above) from inside a supplier concession demonstrates the meaning quite clearly - natural forests in and around APP's own tiger sanctuary!

It's greenwashing scams like this that led to the Dutch Advertising Codes Commission's recent ruling that APP’s print and television advertisements were misleading to the public. This news comes off the back of other recent APP tiger scandals. In July, a tiger was found dead in a trap on an APP plantation, and in other areas APP has been forced to relocate tigers after clearing their forest habitat.

The report also highlights how APP suppliers are, contrary to Indonesian laws and regulations, clearing and draining deep peat, a major source of global greenhouse gas emissions. The draining, degradation, and burning of Indonesia’s peatlands is one of the main reasons why Indonesia is ranked third biggest climate polluter in the world.

On top of this new evidence, our recent Tiger Tour through Sumatra documented the ongoing destruction of tiger habitat and peatland areas, and a dossier has been presented to the Indonesian president to demonstrate how companies like APP are undermining his efforts to curb deforestation.

It’s estimated that APP - which is part of the Sinar Mas Group - has pulped more than two million hectares of Indonesia’s tropical forests since it started paper production there in 1984. The devastation caused by APP has led to intense global criticism with many major global brands such as Mattel, Lego, Adidas, Tesco and dozens more now refusing to do business with the company.

While many global buyers, including some of the biggest paper users in the world, have stopped buying from APP, in the UK APP is hiding behind other company names and using independent paper merchants to hide its toxic brand in order to get its paper onto the shelves.

And this latest expose of APP’s destructive operations comes just days after the latest round of UN climate change talks wound up in Durban. While the Indonesian president has been applauded for his ambitious commitments to reducing Indonesian greenhouse gas emissions, the truth is the president’s targets are being undermined daily as APP continues to feed its pulp mills with trees from rainforests, peatlands and habitat which is of critical importance for the survival of Sumatran tigers.
