One will be headlined by Allan McNish, one by Oliver Jarvis, one by Timo Bernhard and one by Andr&eacute; Lotterer, with supplemental drivers to be announced sometime before the 80th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans kicks off in June.<br /> <br /> Audi also announced a two-car entry for the inaugural <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/wrc">FIA World Endurance Championship</a> , with four cars to be run at select racers like Spa and Sebring. But as if all that weren't enough, it led to the <em>cr&ecirc;me-de-la-cr&ecirc;me</em> <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/audi+r8+gt+spyder">R8 GT Spyder</a> . The limited-edition roadster packs the 5.2-liter V10 engine tuned up to 560 horsepower and unburdened of 187 pounds of excess weight, all without a roof to get between driver and the wind rushing rapidly by.<br /> <br /> The hard-core, tire-burning attitude, however, is not all the R8 GT Spyder got from its Italian cousins. It also picked up a Lamborghini's price tag, as Audi USA has just announced the sticker on the exclusive roadster: $210,000. That doesn't include the $1,200 destination charge, taxes or optional equipment like carbon-ceramic brakes or Bang &amp; Olufsen sound system.<br /> <br /> That may seem mighty steep, but if you've got the cash to burn, don't hesitate for too long, because with only 333 units to be built in total and just 50 earmarked for the United States, they're bound to go fast. To that end, Audi has just announced its most powerful V6 TDI yet.<br /> <br /> Called the BiTDI, the 3.0-liter, six-cylinder twin-turbo-diesel packs 313 metric horsepower (309hp on our scale) and a whopping 480 pound-feet of torque. It's being rolled out initially in the UK on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/audi/a6/">A6</a> (sedan, Avant wagon and Allroad high-rider) and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/audi/a7">A7 Sportback</a> , but we're told to expect its arrival soon as an option on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/audi/q7">Q7</a> crossover.<br /> <br /> In the A6 sedan, the BiTDI is said to be good for a 5.1-second dash to 62 mph, with top speed (as per usual) limited to 155 mph while returning a 44.1 mph rating on the combined UK cycle. But if that's not full enough a package for you, Audi has also fitted a sound actuator to give its throaty new diesel the exhaust note you'd expect from a hi-po gasoline engine. If the passenger, say, looks up a restaurant on their display, they can push navigation instructions to the center display and on to the driver. It's a slick setup, but likely won't come to market for at least a few more years. Eight ultrasonic sensors also keep tabs on what's in front of and at the sides of the vehicle, with the front sensors not only tracking the vehicle ahead, but - like <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/12/02/nissan-democratizing-active-safety-introduces-two-trick-new-tec/">Nissan's latest Predictive Forward Collision Warning System</a> - several vehicles ahead.<br /> <br /> If this all sounds familiar, it should. Not only did Audi unveil the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/01/09/audi-lifts-veil-on-q3-vail-concept-confirms-production-q3-for-n/">Q3 Vail concept</a> in Detroit (while confirming the arrival of the production Q3 in the US market), but the new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/01/10/audi-a4-allroad-detroit-2012/">A4 Allroad</a> also made its debut at the show. And now the German automaker has released the new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/audi/a6">A6</a> Allroad Quattro.<br /> <br /> Like the two versions that proceeded it, the latest Allroad takes the A6 Avant wagon (which was just updated for this model year) and adds an extra dose of off-road attitude. That's taken care of by a six-centimeter (2.36 in) increase in ride height, contrasting lower bodywork, stainless steel underbody plating, flared fenders and roof rails.<br /> <br /> Four engine options deliver their power to all four wheels, each displacing three liters and packing turbochargers and direct injection. The sole gasoline engine offers up 310 horsepower and 324 lb-ft of torque, while the three diesel versions range from 204 hp and 332 lb-ft up to 313 hp and 479 lb-ft.<br /> <br /> We've yet to receive any word on potential US availability, but the fact that Audi chose to release this model the day after we'd all gone home from the Detroit show does not bode well. But the functional display was designed to showcase the latest generation of <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/AudiConnect/">Audi Connect</a> , the automaker's reworked infotainment system that's set to debut on the <a href="http://autoblog.com/audi/a3">2013 Audi A3</a> .<br /> <br /> As we <a href="http://translogic.aolautos.com/2011/01/06/ces-2011-next-generation-mmi-coming-to-new-audi-a3/">exclusively revealed to you last year</a> , Audi is incorporating its touchpad technology (originally fitted to the <a href="http://autoblog.com/audi/a7">A7</a> and <a href="http://autoblog.com/audi/a8">A8</a> ) directly into its Multi Media Interface (MMI) control knob, negating the need to move one's hand to write individual letters for navigation, point-of-interest and web searches. As expected, the knob has grown in size, but the additional girth isn't a bad thing. Audi has also nixed the traditional buttons flanking the knob and instead replaced them with toggle switches to swap between navigation, telephone, radio and media. From a muscle-memory point-of-view, this should be a good thing.<br /> <br /> The other major upgrade is under the dash, with the installation of Audi's first Multi-Media Extension (MMX) board. This new <a href="http://translogic.aolautos.com/2011/01/07/ces-2011-audi-announces-plans-to-swap-infotainment-processors/">modular board incorporates</a> an NVIDIA Tegra graphics processor that not only displays fantastic images and 3D animations on the ultra-thin seven-inch display, it can be swapped out as chipset technology evolves. Audi has also expanded its Google Earth integration to include Google Street View and a new iPhone cradle in the armrest boosts the phone's signal to keep the data flowing. Today on the floor of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/detroit-auto-show">Detroit Auto Show</a> , Audi announced it will be bringing the Q3 to the North American market, and this is the show car with which they broke the news.<br /> <br /> Called the Q3 Vail, what we have here is a concept version of the overseas-market crossover with some added off-road trim. Named for the Colorado ski resort, the Q3 Vail has lower body cladding similar to the treatment on Audi's Allroad wagons, in matte grey to contrast with the glossy red paint job. The theme is further accented by aluminum underbody guard plates and extra lighting, with 20-inch wheels to round out the package. The red, black and grey color theme carries into the cabin, and there's a 314-horsepower, 2.5-liter turbo five-cylinder powering all four wheels through a seven-speed automatic for an impressive 5.5-second sprint to 62 mph.<br /> <br /> There's more to digest in the press release after the jump, and both stock and live images in the dual galleries.
